Many solopreneurs want to help people achieve one life transformation or the other. They have the knowledge, experience, and skills with which to support people.
However, they don’t do very well at marketing, sales, and technical work.
Yet they find it difficult to ask for help.
Some — because they did in the past; and it didn’t work out. Maybe they’ve worked with a couple of “experts” who didn’t deliver. Or they asked for help and were turned down.
Or they’re scared someone will judge them for not being smart enough. Or they’ve worked at it for so many years without real success. Or it’s hard for them to let go ‘cos they just want to be in control.
And so they stay stuck for several years — knowing the right thing to do; but somehow never doing it.
They hold back. And hide. And keep plugging along to try and figure it out.
This may sound harsh; but here’s my take: It’s selfishness.
That’s the only reason why you’d keep back your skills from helping people.
You know that what you have inside of you is valuable. You know that there are people out there who are hurting and need you.
But because you’re not “good at marketing”, you hold back from reaching out to them and offering your help.
‘Cos you’re putting your feelings ahead of your mission. And so you refuse to push through & do what it takes to take your message out there.
Here’s my word to you: Stop being selfish.
People need you, stop holding back.
Even if you’ve tried several marketing activities in the past & they didn’t seem to work, keep going.
Maybe you need to re-evaluate your direction.
Or your approach.
Or your message.
Or your offering.
Or your audience (target market).
Whatever it is, keep going.
Don’t recoil into your shell & say you’re done trying.
Even when you feel like your message is not important.
Even when you feel like no one is going to listen to what you have to say.
Honor the treasure you have inside of you, and say it anyway.
Get the support you need to promote your work; and show up for those who need you most.
Anything less than that is plain selfishness.
But I’m not sure you’d describe yourself that way.
So get out of your own way.
And get moving.
‘Cos the world is waiting for you.
But more important than that, your best self is waiting for you to shine forth.
Don’t disappoint yourself.
