Gold — one of the most beautiful and expensive treasures on earth today.
Just 1 ounce of it is almost $2,000 as at the time of writing this article. If you want some gold, all you have to do is get the money & go buy it. It’s that simple right?
And yet, it takes an average of between 10-20 years before a gold mine is even ready to produce material that can be refined.
Even just the process of building the infrastructure required for mining can be as long as five years from the time of discovering the gold mine to when actual mining can begin.
Let that sink in for a moment.
Here’s some of what is involved in this process:
- Finding the raw gold deposits
- Analyzing the Locations
- Testing the Locations
- Determining the Type of Mine
- Building the Infrastructure
- Taking More Samples
- Completing On-Site Processing
- Completing Off-Site Refining (This is the point gold is refined to 99.99& purity)
- Reclaiming the Mine
Unfortunately, because of how “easy” it is to buy gold in the market, we often forget what it took to arrive at the finished product.
You see, it’s exactly the same thing in business.
We often focus on the final result of what we want to achieve as goals, but we don’t evaluate the great time and effort required to get there.
Or, we look at someone who has built a successful business & has a very large audience — and we want to arrive at the same level in 6 months. We forget the sleepless nights and years of hard work nobody saw them going through the boring parts.
Nobody knew Facebook when Mark & his friends were putting it together. It took at least 4 -5 years before people started paying attention to it or creating accounts on it. Today, Facebook has more than 2.7 billion active users all over the world. And now, every young guy who learns how to code dreams of creating the next Facebook.
That’s my invitation to you today — let’s get rid of this microwave mentality and quick-fix mindset for building our business. Things take time, as they should indeed.
Give yourself the space required to go through the boring parts. There are moments you’ll totally not feel like working, and that’s okay. There’ll be times you’ll almost feel like giving up, and that’s okay too. It’s all part of the process.
If you continue working hard & smart on the right things, you’ll definitely arrive at the results you’re looking for.
Just give it time. And enjoy the boring parts.
That’s how real gold works.
