There’s no shortage of productivity tools in the world today.
From mobile apps & time tracking software to buddy groups and to-do list applications; there are countless resources to help you be more productive in your work & life.
Yet, more and more business owners are overwhelmed on a daily basis with all the things they have to do. How do we fix this?
There are 2 tools that are often ignored; but I’ve found them to be the most helpful in maximizing productivity:
1). Slow Down.
As solopreneurs, we want everything to happen fast.
We want to create online courses. And get clients. And build a large-enough warm audience. And create a group program. And make six figures income. And etc.
While none of these is a bad thing to desire, we often approach them the wrong way —- in a hurry.
So, what happens is that we have all these great ideas and know the many things we could be doing; that we end up doing nothing.
This is because we tend to rush into things without proper planning and alignment to ensure that we’re moving in the right direction.
And so we get started on the first thing; try it for 2 weeks, get no results, decide that “it doesn’t work”; and move to the next shiny thing.
But what if we could just slow down?
What if we could give ourselves the time and spaciousness we need to create something meaningful?
Stop being in a hurry.
Work on your business; not just in it like an employee.
Improve your processes.
Optimize your systems.
Plan and execute your actions in the right direction.
Don’t rush from one thing to the other.
Give yourself time.
Get help if you need to; but be kind to yourself.
A step at a time, you’ll get where you’re going.
Sleep is by far the biggest productivity hack or tool of all time. Sadly, it’s also the most ignored and abused self-care practice.
This is not a research article so I’ll spare you the boring scientific details of what sleep does for your body.
However, just know that if you’re not getting enough sleep, you’re doing yourself no good; and you’re reducing your productivity by more than 70%.
I know — you have so much to do.
I know — there’s not enough time in the day.
I know — you have clients to attend to. And kids to take care of. And aging parents to attend to.
But here’s the thing: You’ll be completely unable to do any of these things if you break down. And yet they’ll be done — even in your absence.
Your clients will still get the support they need & get their work done.
Your kids will still be taken care of.
Your parents will still be attended to.
=> Only, not by you.
You need to sleep. Period. By getting enough rest & sleep, you’re able to better show up and be the strong person you want to be for your family, friends, and clients.
This, my friend, is the biggest productivity tool of all time.
What are you waiting for? Go to bed and sleep.
